#Austrian GP 2023: MotoGP highlights from Thursday

The MotoGP circus is back in town! Here are the highlights from the first day at Spielberg.

The weather brightened up right on time for the start of the MotoGP weekend at Spielberg. And as the temperatures rose, so did the mood among the numerous fans who had already started pitching their tents on Thursday. The main reason for the excitement was, of course, the pit lane walk. No die-hard MotoGP fan would miss this absolute cracker of a side-event Selfies were duly snapped in the pit lane, autograph hunters were on the prowl and souvenir photos of the teams’ inner sanctums were taken. And providing the appropriate audio backdrop were the upbeat sounds of the discs spun by the DJs on the winner’s podium mixed with the roar of motorbike engines.

MotoGP Bike City is already living up to its reputation as Spielberg’s ‘side-event bastion’. The Bermuda Five DJ duo from Steyr had no trouble convincing the fans in front of the huge event stage that they were in the hottest club in Austria. The music only paused when other main events were about to start, for example Meet the Riders and Marc Marquez’s book signing.

The vehicle exhibition was also very popular with the two-wheeler enthusiasts. In addition to Pedro Acosta’s 2021 world championship-winning bike, KTM brought along other racing machines to the Red Bull Ring for fans to inspect up close. There was no way that Brad Binder and Jack Miller were going to miss out on the opportunity to greet fans arriving for the KTM home race.
