#AustrianGP 2022: Thursday highlights

MotoGP riders off track, Pit Lane Walk and a bit of a storm – Thursday had a lot to offer.

Action off track

The 4WD Test Track instead of a race track, steep roads instead of chicanes, four instead of two wheels. For MotoGP riders Johann Zarco, Pol Espargaro, Remy Gardner and youngsters Ayumu Sasaki and Tony Arbolino, there was a special kind of adventure on the schedule. In a Mitsubishi L200 and Land Rover Defender from the in-house fleet, the two-wheel racing pros proved they don’t only have what it takes on the tarmac but also over rocks and steps etc. There was no end of fun. If you want to follow in the footsteps of Zarco & Co, you can book an off-road experience and let our instructors show you how to conquer gnarled tree trunks, forest floors dotted with roots and stony forest paths.

New MotoGP chicane inspected

The riders and the teams came on foot, bikes and e-scooters to inspect the new track layout, which celebrates its premiere this weekend. The serious business all starts tomorrow when Binder & Co fine-tune their setup in the first free practice (from 09:00). Even if the Red Bull Ring looks simple on paper, incredible acceleration, traction and also top deceleration is required to race to the front of the 4.348-kilometre circuit. Pit Lane Walk

Just as the Pit Lane Walk began, the heavens opened. Real MotoGP fans were never going to let a storm put them off though, and the popular side event was completed in good, if wet, spirits. The best of the situation was also made at the campsites, with a few enduro stunts performed to the sound of Rammstein.

Arrive in comfort for MotoGP

Whether on bus, train or bike – motorsport fans have numerous options to choose from to travel to Spielberg in comfort from tomorrow. If possible, public transport should be taken instead of your own car. Whichever means of transport you choose, the universal rule is – if you arrive early, you will get here faster! Detailed information on how to get here can be found here, as well as in the Red Bull Ring app.

Tickets at the track

Those who still decide they want to come can secure tickets for the big motorsport show at the ticket points. These are open from Friday to Sunday from 08:00. Please note that a first come, first served principle applies at ticket points.
