HUNTING RECORDS AT THE RED BULL RING

The elite motorcycle racing series tore straight into the first practice session for the Austrian GP, much to the pleasure of the fans at the Red Bull Ring. Johann Zarco set a new lap record in his Ducati in the first practice session of the weekend. No better times were possible in FP2 due to a wet circuit.

Fastest ever lap on two wheels posted!

The MotoGP lap record set by Jorge Martín last Saturday (in Q2) did not last long. His team-mate Johann Zarco has already launched a real Ducati rocket in the first free practice session for the Bitci Motorcycle Grand Prix of Austria 2021. He brought the time for the fastest ever lap at the Red Bull Ring on two wheels down to an incredible 1:22.827 minutes – going almost eight tenths of a second faster than the rest. It seems like the Frenchman has an eye on setting a record at Spielberg that can barely be beaten. Finishing as the fastest in the second free practice session, as the circuit increasingly dried out, was KTM rider Iker Lecuona.

Action away from the racing circuit

At Spielberg MotoGP Bike City there was plenty of entertainment getting the spectators in gear on Friday. From DJs with live acts to motorcycle stunt shows and challenging activities, fans can look forward to a range of highlights off the circuit this weekend too.

Fans can find all the information on the big finale on two wheels at Spielberg in 2021 on our website. Anyone who wants to be there to see all-time hero Valentino Rossi contest his final MotoGP race in Austria can buy tickets at the circuit’s ticket points up to and including Sunday.
