The Red Bull Ring Classics at Spielberg in June will be a home race for the Sports Car Challenge. This series is a championship-style competition on a club sport basis for open-top two-seater sports cars. The championship title is contested in two divisions over seven race weekends.
At the Red Bull Ring, the Sports Car Challenge will be run at the same time as the Group C Supercup. Fans can look forward to a colourful field of sports cars, the oldest of which is the Lola T310 Chevrolet. This is the car in which David Hobbs finished seventh overall in the CanAm racing series in 1972. The Chevrolet’s naturally aspirated 8.1-litre V8 engine produces 826 horsepower, and it is the widest-ever sports car at 2.17 metres.
