The pot has been well and truly stirred for what promises to be a thrilling race on Sunday. Enea Bastianini secured the first pole of his career ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller. Behind them, Jorge Martin and Fabio Quartararo will be ready to pounce. “The chicane is definitely a key point, it comes so quickly after the first corner. It’s all about staying out of trouble there,” says Miller. Despite the new chicane, the new best lap time of 1:28.772 minutes is just under six seconds slower than the previous MotoGP record. “I’m surprised by the lap times despite the chicane. The drivers are only a few seconds slower. The new layout has definitely enhanced the Red Bull Ring,” says Dr Helmut Marko, who was thrilled watching the MotoGP at his home track.
Sporting greats at MotoGP
Apart from the Red Bull motorsport consultant, MotoGP attracted other sporting greats like Gerhard Berger and Fernando Alonso to Spielberg. On the subject of Formula 1 – the sprint race format will also feature in the top motorcycling competition from 2023. While the best riders in the world thrilled the fans at the Red Bull Ring, the guys around Luc Ackermann delighted motorcycle enthusiasts off the track too. Man, woman, toddler and teenager alike were all totally startled as they watched on from the audience area during the backflips. As the show came to an end, the fans noisily demanded an encore.
That wish that was gladly granted by the professional showmen. The engines were started again and off they went. Missed the Red Bull X Masters of Dirt FMX Show feat. Missed Aras Freestyle Show? On Sunday you have another opportunity to see the spectacular stunts live. It all gets going in the MotoGP Bike City from 11:20. Tickets are available at the track’s ticket points from 08:00.
The spectacular show of the freestyle motocross acrobats was surpassed only by Meet the Riders. Fans had the unique opportunity here to see their MotoGP idols up close and in person. Autograph and selfie hunters were also left with big smiles on their faces.

Orange v neon green
In MotoGP Bike City on Saturday, there was plenty of neon green 46 on display in addition to KTM orange. A year ago, MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi announced his retirement in Spielberg, but his fans are remaining loyal to him and are now lending their enthusiastic support to his VR-46 racing teams.
