F1 Morning News: Key information for Friday

The start signal is given

The formula drivers will be putting in their first laps as early as 08:55. Among them will be the Austria’s great hope, Charlie Wurz. If you want to see the Formula 3 practice session, you should get there in good time. Travel to the event by bus, train or bicycle is not only the most environmentally friendly but also the least stressful option. The parking lots are in the immediate walking distance to the Red Bull Ring and will open at 07:00.

The premier class of motorsport will flex its horsepower muscles from 12:30. In free practice, Max Verstappen & Co have 60 minutes to work on the right setup. Then it’s time to get down to business, as a sprint will also be held at the Red Bull Ring in 2024. The sprint race to be contested at the Red Bull Ring this year has a new schedule, with qualifying taking place today (Friday).

F1 at Spielberg: The sprint format explained

Starting at 16:30, the f1 drivers will be competing for pole position for tomorrow’s sprint.

Busy programme away from the race track

Even before the first laps are driven on the Red Bull Ring, the F1 Fan Zone and the Styria Village will be buzzing. The gates will be open from 08:00 onwards. Look forward to a spectacular freestyle motorcycle stunt show by Arunas Gibieža, ARAS for short. The 31-year-old Lithuanian is one of the best motorcycle stunt riders in the world and will perform unique tricks in the F1 Fan Zone as well as on the start-finish straight. What he does on his Kawasaki Ninja 636 is almost unbelievable and you have to see it.

A visit to the Legends Tent is not just a must for F1 nostalgics. Automotive treasures such as Ronnie Peterson’s Lotus 79 (winner of the 1978 Austrian GP) and Max Verstappen’s RB14 (winner of the 2018 Austrian GP) are on display here. So off to the F1 Fan Zone and marvel at the “Legends” up close.

Meet the Drivers

The F1 drivers from Racing Bull, McLaren, Williams, Stake Sauber and Aston Martin will be on the F1 Fan Zone event stage throughout the day to answer questions from presenters Tom Walek and Karina Toth. You are of course invited to stop by and experience your favorite drivers live.

Team bosses Christian Horner (Oracle Red Bull Racing), Toto Wolf (Mercedes) and Alessandro Bravi (Stake Sauber) will also be there. You should not miss that.
