Rudolf Buchbinder to play Austrian national anthem

Whether it’s rock, pop, classical, folk rock or folk music – choirs, orchestras, chapels, musicians and international stars have already made the F1 track at the Red Bull Ring rock to the sound of the Austrian national anthem.

Rudolf Buchbinder is to continue the tradition of presenting local culture to an international audience in 2022. The pianist will play the national anthem on his grand piano right on the start-finish straight and rouse the voices of tens of thousands of fans at Spielberg in front of a breathtaking backdrop.

“I’m always up for extraordinary ideas. I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to this event, above all because I’m a huge F1 fan. Interpreting the anthem on the grand piano is a great pleasure for me,” says Buchbinder, who is one of the greatest pianists in the world. For more than 60 years, the natural talent has dedicated himself to performing the most significant works on the piano.

On 10 July 2022, when the F1 stars line up on the grid at Spielberg, Buchbinder will represent local culture around the world as his interpretation of Land of Mountains is heard live. The pianist therefore follows in the footsteps of well-known artists such as the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Boys’ Choir, Opus and star percussionist Martin Grubinger.
