Formula 1 Legends Parade at the Red Bull Ring

Racing cars from 1975 to 2010 that have made Formula 1 history will return to the race track at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix under the title “GP ICONS”, brimming with motorsport memories from June 26 to 28. Emotional highlights include David Coulthard in the Red Bull Racing RB6, the team’s first World Championship-winning car, or Rubens Barrichello in the legendary Ferrari F2002. A special highlight of the lineup is the Ferrari 312T, with which Niki Lauda claimed his first World Championship title in 1975 and secured Ferrari’s first Drivers’ title since 1964. Also on display are the 2002 Championship Ferrari, and Red Bull Racing’s 2010 championship car. Special cars such as the Brabham BT46B, the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34, the Lotus 88 with its “twin chassis”, and the Brabham BT52 – the first turbocharged World Championship car – will definitely delight the fans.

Ferrari 312T (1975)

First F1 title for Ferrari since 1964, first world championship title for Niki Lauda, 5 wins in 1975, Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles for Ferrari.

Lotus 77 (1976)

One car – four drivers. P3 at the Österreichring in 1976 with Gunnar Nilsson, Mario Andretti’s start-to-finish victory at Fuji.

Tyrrell P34 (1976)

The iconic six-wheeled car with two front axles Jody Scheckter is the only contestant ever to have won a Grand Prix in a six-wheeled racing car.

Tyrrell P34B (1977)

Successor of the Tyrrell six-wheeler. The model was withdrawn after the 1977 season. The tyres were too expensive, and Goodyear was reluctant to produce them.

Brabham BT46B (1978)

One race – one victory with Niki Lauda. The BT46B had a novel device at the rear and generated a great deal of downforce. Following protests, the car was withdrawn by team boss Bernie Ecclestone.

Lotus 88 (1981)

The Lotus 88 was only driven in free practice sessions. It passed technical scrutineering, but the stewards ruled the car to be non-compliant with the regulations.

Brabham BT52 (1983)

Victory in maiden race and, ultimately, the car that – further developed – produced the first turbo world champion in history.

Brabham BT52B (1983)

With a third-place finish at Kyalami in South Africa, Piquet became the first turbo world champion in history and secured his second championship title.

Ferrari F2002 (2002)

Dominant car in 2002 season with 14 wins from 17 GPs. Michael Schumacher’s fifth title. Winning car in the highly controversial 2002 Austrian Grand Prix.

Red Bull Racing RB6 (2010)

Red Bull Racing’s maiden Constructors’ title, and first Drivers’ title for Sebastian Vettel. Both RB6 drivers were still in contention for the Drivers’ championship at the Abu Dhabi season finale.

Off to the Red Bull Ring …

Rubens Barrichello – who has a special connection to the Austrian Grand Prix –, Niki Lauda’s son Mathias, Jean Alesi and Mark Webber will be bringing motorsport history to life at Spielberg. And, of course, Austria’s former F1 driver Karl Wendlinger will be at the GP weekend. With David Coulthard, one of the defining drivers from Red Bull Racing’s early history will also be part of the lineup.

Mathias LAUDA (AUT)

Niki Lauda’s was four years in the DTM for Mercedes, and had five appearances at Le Mans for Aston Martin. In Austria, he is also a familiar face as a pundit on ServusTV.

Jan LAMMERS (NED)

Born in – Zandvoort, of course – the Dutch driver has 23 GP races, unfortunately without points. He won the 24-hour classics at both Le Mans and Daytona.

Pier Luigi MARTINI (ITA)

The Italian is a legend at Minardi, as the most successful driver in the team’s history. He scored nearly half of the team’s points—thanks to his daring driving style.

Paolo BARILLA (ITA)

A member of the world’s largest pasta dynasty, Barilla drove nine F1 races for Minardi in 1989 and 1990. In 1985, he won the overall title at Le Mans in a Joest-Porsche 956.

Jean ALESI (FRA)

The Frenchman, despite his extraordinary talent, won only one Grand Prix. His pranks with his teammate Gerhard Berger are legendary.

Karl WENDLINGER (AUT)

The Tyrolean once beat Michael Schumacher to become German Formula 3 champion and competed in 41 Grand Prix races. He was brought into the F1 by Dr. Helmut Marko.

Christian DANNER (GER)

The Munich-born ace once carried out test drives for Brabham-BMW, as well as competing in 36 Grands Prix for Zakspeed, Osella, Arrows and Rial.

Mark WEBBER (AUS)

Oscar Piastri’s manager enjoyed his greatest successes as a Formula 1 driver with Red Bull Racing. He achieved nine victories in 215 Grands Prix.

Rubens BARRICHELLO (BRA)

The tragic hero of 2002 now has the honour of getting back into the F2002 here in Spielberg. The Brazilian has 322 Grand Prix starts and eleven victories to his name.

David COULTHARD (GBR)

The Scot knows the RB6 inside and out: along with Daniel Ricciardo and Brendon Hartley, he was one of the test and development drivers. Coulthard competed in 246 F1 races and secured 13 victories.
