DTM at Spielberg: Five good reasons for being there

DTM driver Lucas Auer with fans at the Red Bull Ring

The DTM weekend at the Red Bull Ring (22nd ‑ 24th September 2023) will be the first time the series has been staged there under the aegis of the ADAC. This organisational change at the top means that fans will enjoy an even more action-packed programme than in previous years. But that’s just one of five reasons why you should head to Spielberg.

1. It doesn’t get any more high-octane than this

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, BMW and Mercedes – a roll call of names to delight any true motorsport fan. This line-up on the grid alone should be reason enough for you to head to the Red Bull Ring and savour the perfect finale to the 2023 racing summer. But there’s more: when you purchase your ticket for the DTM, you will be booking your seat for a racing double bill. In addition to the two DTM races, you will also get to see spectacular wheel-to-wheel action in the ADAC GT Masters and other partner series which form part of the busy support programme, namely the BMW M2 Cup, the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux.

2. Title chances in red-white-red

Will Thomas Preining be the first Austrian in DTM history to win the title? The answer to this question may already be revealed in the penultimate round of the season at Spielberg – and you can be there to witness it! The Porsche driver is currently trailing championship leader Mirko Bortolotti by seven points. Bortolotti only took over at the top in the most recent race at the Lausitzring after Preining had led the standings for eight weeks. There are two other Austrians on the 2023 gridClemens Schmid and Lucas Auer. Schmid competes for the GT Grasser Racing Team, which is based just a stone’s throw away from the Red Bull Ring and took the first victory for an Austrian team in the DTM at the tradition steeped Nürburgring. So get out your red-white-red flags and keep your fingers crossed for the local heroes.

3. A chance to rub shoulders with the DTM stars

There are a lot of new developments in the DTM this year, but one thing has remained the same – the sense of proximity for the fans. That’s why the ticket price includes access to the paddock. In addition, there will be various events on the programme for the weekend featuring the top drivers from the DTM and its partner series. In the open paddock, you will have the opportunity to meet your favourite drivers, get their autographs and take selfies.

4. Entertainment for the whole family

There’s a reason why the Fan Zone is the focal point of a DTM weekend: it’s a place that offers activities and entertainment not only for die-hard motorsport fans but for the whole family. While the little ones have fun participating in the children’s programme, the adults can wander round the merchandise stalls purchasing memorabilia and items signalling their support for a particular driver or team. The entertainment programme on the event stage ensures that the overall good mood lasts throughout the entire race weekend.

5. Advance ticket sales at special prices

You can experience the top-class DTM programme for as little as €39,- (day ticket Saturday or Sunday) or €59,- (weekend ticket Friday to Sunday). The Start-Ziel, Steiermark and Red Bull grandstands will all be open for the occasion, and tickets are available in three categories. Children under 16 years of age accompanied by an adult will receive a 50% discount in Categories 1 and 2, while admission in Category 3 is free of charge.
