Fabulous racing cars, double the racing action (two races per weekend), a line-up that includes Austria’s top drivers, a paddock open to everyone, the opportunity to glimpse behind the scenes in the pit lane and a supporting programme for the whole family – these are the ingredients that rightly make the iconic German touring car series a perennial favourite at the Red Bull Ring. The DTM weekend (24th 26th April) is the first fixture on the 2026 racing calendar of the circuit in Spielberg. It also features three partner series – the ADAC GT Masters, the ADAC GT4 Germany and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
The outstanding opener to the season will be contested by a dozen teams fielding spectacular GT3 racing cars sporting the badges of various premium manufacturers. Will the driver line-up be equally impressive as in previous years, especially from an Austrian perspective? No Austrian has as many DTM victories to his name as Lucas Auer. After his compatriot Thomas Preining won the title in 2023 and Mirko Bortolotti, who lives in Vienna, won it in 2024, the Tyrolean lifted the runner-up’s trophy in 2025. The odds of another Austrian triumph in the iconic German series must surely be high in 2026!
Now into its 20th season, the ADAC GT Masters will once again share the billing with the DTM on four race weekends, one of which is at the Red Bull Ring in April. Two drivers take turns at the wheel in the 60- and 90-minute sprint and endurance races. In the ‘Road to DTM’ classification, talented drivers can prove themselves worthy of a step up to the next level in GT racing.
