40 talented riders from nine different countries competing in three classes: the MiniGP Austria Series is about to launch into its third season with a record number of contestants. The 2024 campaign commences on the weekend of 18th – 19th May at the Red Bull Ring, which also hosted the roll-out on 29th March.
In the 190cc class, last year’s runner-up Tobias Kitzbichler will be in the hunt for the title. No fewer than five Austrian riders will be in the starting line-up: Kitzbichler, Lukas Wogowitsch, Julian Schönberger and the two rising stars Fabian Beitschek and Patrick Faderl.
Five riders will also be flying the flag of Austria in the 160cc class: Julian Wieser, Dominik Kirchgatterer, Lukas Schuller, Paul Linsbichler and Adrian Luckensteiner. Gustl Auinger, mentor of the MiniGP™ Austria Series: “It will be exciting to see how the field in the 160cc class shapes up now that the Top Three from the previous season have made the step up to the next class. That’s certainly created room at the top.”
New 110cc class: A chance to compete under professional conditions
The youngest riders will also get a look in as the new season gets underway at the Red Bull Ring. In the new 110cc class, the Ohvale Austria Rookies Challenge, talented riders aged 8 and over from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary will be vying for honours. All race weekends are run under professional conditions and contested on Ohvale GP-0 110 motorbikes.
