Ten years of “Tourenwagen Golden Ära” at Red Bull Ring Classics
Spielberg, August 2026: The 10th anniversary of the touring car Golden Era is about to set the Alps ablaze, with the series promising to be a standout moment of the season.
The legendary horsepower monsters from the DTM years 1993-2019 are now returning to one of the most modern and scenic race tracks in Europe. What makes the fixture in Austria so special is that the regulations are being relaxed to suit the preferences of the many Austrian DTM fans. In addition to the hi-tech cars from the 1993 to 2019 era, DTM classic cars from before 1993 are also permitted at the Red Bull Ring. The series thus spans the arc from the turbulent beginnings of the touring car championship to the technological perfection of the Class 1 cars.
The Revival brings back the star names of bygone days together with their iconic vehicles. A special novelty is the active participation of the manufacturers: Audi Sport promises a line-up that will set fans’ pulses racing, while the BMW Classic Group has a special surprise in store for spectators.
Unique starting field in DTM history
- Audi ‘armada’: The line-up ranges from the classic Audi 80 B4 Class 1 (Werner Anton) to Sebastian Sommer’s modern ABT Audi TT-R.
- Mercedes-Benz: The brand with the three-pointed star is represented by various generations of the C-Class (drivers include Stefan Mücke, Thilo Goos, Rudi Schöllhorn) and a CLK DTM (Stefan Rupp).
- BMW and Exotics: Armin Hahne’s BMW E36 Class 1 and the rare Ford Mustang DTM (Guido Momm) are set to attract plenty of interest. The field is rounded off by classics from the early DTM years.
- The modern era: At the cutting edge of technical evolution, the BMW M4 Turbo (2019) driven by Lucas Auer – a local hero in Austria – is sure to provide some spine-tingling moments.
In tribute to the exclusivity of these eras, the field is limited to 20 hand-picked vehicles. A special zone will be set aside in the Red Bull Ring paddock where fans can get an in-depth insight into the technology and history of the DTM.
