On August 27th and 28th, 2022 (from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts from nine nations will provide sensational action at the Red Bull Ring at the “RACING DAYS – Rupert Hollaus Race”. They celebrate old times on wonderful vintage irons, while the spectators in the “fast classes” Superbike and Supersport get to see the modern and powerful motorcycles.
At the “International Sidecar Trophy” and “Historic Sidecar” races, fans can admire the acrobats on three wheels. 14 classes are evaluated – from Superbike, Supersport, Youngtimer, Vintage to the sidecar in the groups “Speed” and “Evenness”. Winners receive handmade designer trophies. With this event, the IG Formula Classic commemorates the only Austrian solo motorcycle world champion to date, Rupert Hollaus. The Austrian had a fatal accident during training in Monza on September 11, 1954 and was posthumously declared world champion at the end of the season.
Legends Parade – Giacamo Agostini as special guest
Probably the most famous and successful motorcycle racer of all time – Giacomo Agostini – will be seen and heard as star guest at the parade of legends on his legendary MV-Agusta. On top of that, fans get to see famous racing motorcycles worth seeing, including the brands MV-Agusta, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Gilera and Paton BL3.
The sidecar sport has been enjoying particular popularity again for several years. The acrobatics of the co-drivers, also called “Schmiermaxe”, influence the cornering technique of the vehicles on three wheels with their enormous power and body control. The participants of the “Int. Sidecar Trophy” fight in two classes (600/1000 ccm) for the championship title 2022. The fully occupied field of the historical sidecars starts with impressive and history-steeped vehicles, in which the co-drivers trim the team sitting, kneeling or lying at high speeds.
Highlight class Supersport and Superbike
In the fast classes “Supersport and Superbike” things really get down to business. Racing motorcycles with up to 250 hp and a top speed of over 300 km/h as well as top drivers such as Chris Zaiser (three-time Austrian state champion) move their modern superbikes around the Red Bull Ring in MotoGP style. Driving is on the classic race track, i.e. not through the new Münzer chicane, which celebrates its premiere at the CryptoDATA Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich 2022.
Tickets are available at the box offices on site:
With a valid one-day or tow-day-ticket, fans are allowed to visit the paddock. Of course, autographs and selfies are also possible.
Patron of the event is Red Bull CEO Robert Hohensinn.
